This week we had runners at Perth on Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday we had Lovely Schtuff in the 2m4f, he had to make the running and jumped great to finish in a pleasing 3rd place. He benefitted from being in the first race due to the fresh ground, however it was much softer than advertised and rode quite deep. On Friday we then had Midnight Kate in the Mares 2m novice hurdle race. She ran up with the pace, jumped superbly and got slightly done for pace but stuck on well to finish 5th. A pleasing run and she in continuing to improve all the time. Highland Peak then ran in the 2m4f handicap hurdle race. He was making his first appearance after 6 months off due to weather and a wind operation. It was softer than he would have liked, especially after the two previous days racing, he ran up with pace and jumped well, he looked booked for a place but faded after the last to finish in 6th position. He will have needed the run after so long off and will be looking forward to better ground in the following months. All in all a safe and enjoyable trip back to our local course.
