Horse racing can be a complete mix of emotions, with ups and downs everyday. This week we are very sad to report the loss of stable star Welcome Ben at Kelso. It is so incredibly tough losing a horse at anytime but Welcome Ben was a true star, loved by everyone here especially Jackie. He gave us a number of great wins over his career including an incredible win after a year off at Ayr back in May. He will be sorely missed and the yard won’t be the same without him.

We had Whoa Black Betty in a relatively hot mares bumper, back at Kelso yesterday. She ran upfront and keenly but faded towards the finish ending up in 5th. Nevertheless we are happy she is home safe and she has learnt a lot and will likely progress to hurdles now.

We also have our first flat runner at Ayr on Saturday, Drogon runs for the first time for us and it is exciting to be branching into flat racing after just being focussed on national hunt.
