On November 2nd we took Ballinvegga and Highland Peak to Mussellburgh Racecourse.
Ballinvegga was running in his first steeplechase but unfortunately, his performance was a bit disappointing. He was jumping slowly and carefully and struggled to keep up . He was just warming to the task when he made a mistake which knocked the stuffing out of him a bit. He will have more schooling and hopefully he will be better suited to the task next time!
Highland Peak ran in the maiden hurdle which was his first hurdle race, this is a big step up and although he has done his three bumpers, we were still a little unsure about how he would react to a field of horses jumping next to him! Although he finished 5th he jumped really well and showed a great attitude and should find things easier on a stiffer track over further. He has learned a fantastic amount this year.
Motion to Strike also made his debut for the Jackie Stephen Racing Club at Hexham on the 4th of November. He ran in the 2mile Maiden Hurdle and finished a credible fifth in a 16 runner race. He jumped well and saw the race out well but having not ran since May this year, he did need the run. We are hopeful that he will improve for next time and aim to run him again soon.
Amilliontimes ran on 7th of November at Carlisle, the ground was a little soft and he struggled to get out in front but came a respectable 5th in a hot race. He has gone on a well deserved holiday for the moment after having an incredible year with 4 consecutive wins!
Big thank you to Tony Kelly for jockeying all four horses in their races!
Pictured below we have Ballinvegga before his race being led by Jackie.
