A busy week last week with 3 runners at Perth on Wednesday evening and 2 at Ladies day on the Thursday. On Wednesday we had Motion To Strike, Ballinvegga and Highland Peak. Motion To Strike ran a great race and in an exciting finish, he was 2nd but a very short distance. A great buzz with a few members of the Jackie Stephen Racing Club there to watch. Ballinvegga was returning to the racecourse after a lengthy period of time off due to injury. He was a star and had definitely not forgotten what to do. He jumped great and finished in a very pleasing 5th. A great start to what could be an exciting rest of the year for him. Highland Peak ran well and like normal jumped well but seemed to struggle in the finishing stages to finish further back in the field. Hopefully he will come on from this race and improve.

On Thursday we had Midnight Kate and Lovely Schtuff. Midnight Kate ran in the first race. She ran her normal style of mid division with good jumping. The race was probably quicker than she would have liked and this showed in the closing stages. Nevertheless, she is always learning and will soon get a handicap and we can progress from there. Lovely Schtuff ran a rather disappointing race, sometimes they just don’t have good days and this just didn’t seem to be his day. Hopefully he will be back in the places next time out.

In other news on the yard, the girls have been very busy with painting the stables and with the nice weather the horses have been able to get some time out in the sun. Jackie and Patrick are currently at the sales and there is potential for some recruits – stay tuned for next weeks blog to find out!
