The cold weather was back this weekend with temperatures dropping to -5 through the night. On Tuesday we had Lovely Schtuff at Sedegefield, unfortunately the weather had been wetter than expected and the ground was heavy but having travelled down the night before we took the decision to run him even though the ground wasn’t ideal. He was slightly race rusty and ballooned the first. However he did settle into his race but disappointedly pulled up. We will have a deeper investigation into his run but the ground was partly at fault and he came back in one piece which is the main thing.

We are also deeply saddened to report the loss of Highland Peak this week after a severe colic. He was a firm yard favourite and one of the kindest and relaxed horses we have had. He was a huge presence in the yard and was a great nanny and companion to our younger string. Everyone will miss him dearly and the yard will be a strange place without his face peaking out of his window.
