This week Jackie and Patrick took a trip to Somerset to visit younger daughter Lucy, who is working at Phillip Hobbs. She was riding her horse, LadyVie, in a 4m point-to-point on Saturday. They had a good, safe round with some good jumping but 4miles was a little too far so the pair ended up finishing 5th. Nevertheless a happy and safe ride that will help them both progress.

Unfortunately, yesterday we lost Mick’s Wish at Ayr. He was running a good race and jumping well until the second last where he fell awkwardly and broke his neck. He was a great character to have on the yard and will be sorely missed by everyone, especially stable mate Highland Peak. It never gets easy losing a member of the team, especially with a smaller yard and a close team.

We will be looking ahead with more racing coming up and good ground finally making an appearance to really kick off summer jumping! We have two horses, Amilliontimes and Captain Kurt, running on Wednesday 9th May at Kelso. Captain Kurt will make his debut in the bumper and Amilliontimes is returning after a long absence due to the ground not being suitable through the winter months.
