This week has been a mixture of emotions for all the team. The positives of the week have been the resurfacing of the all weather gallops. Due to the harsh winter, they were in need of some treatment. They’ve been resurfaced with fresh wood chip and now feel amazing to work on.

We’ve also managed to get some racing in this week. We had Motion To Strike and Midnight Kate at Catterick today. Motion To Strike was returning after a lengthy break and was in need of the run. A slightly disappointing run but on tackier ground than may have suited, we are hoping this will get him back into his ways and we will perform next time. Midnight Kate ran in her second bumper, she made a pleasing effort but will be more suited over hurdles which will be the next step for her.

Unfortunately, with ups there can also be some downs. We said goodbye to a very special horse on Thursday. Mo Rouge sadly broke his sesamoid bone, which does not heal. He gave us our first win under rules back in July 2014 on Jackie’s 50th birthday. He was a true character and nothing will beat that feeling he gave all of us when he won. He will be sorely missed by everyone on the yard, especially stable mate Amilliontimes and Jackie as he was understandable a favourite of hers.

Here are some of our favourite pictures of him from over the years:
